Performing our music at the Textile Museum in Washington, DC was a transcendent experience. Tabla for Two music and the gorgeous textiles became one. What a very beautiful and inspiring place to perform.

A refugee from Afghanistan and a colourful Pennsylvanian artist team up to blend ancient Afghan beats with Bollywood songs, ghazals and a new-fangled approach to playing tabla.

On May 1 Tabla for Two performed at DCAC (District of Columbia Arts Center) with guest artists Sofya Savkina, dancing, and introduced Helen Burns, singing. We performed to a full house. It was an exciting outstanding evening!

How much do you know about the origin of the term “Silk Road” and the early Silk Road explorers?
On February 19th, you will have a chance to travel back in time and “meet” the famous Swedish Silk Road explorer Sven Hedin. He made three expeditions between 1885 to 1908, traveling to Baku, Isfahan, Tabriz, Tehran, Samarkand, Bukharan, Margilan and beyond.
Our Edwardian Evening on the Silk Road will combine dramatic readings from Sven Hedin’s best-selling books – presented by an actor portraying the Swedish explorer – with enchanting dance performances by Silk Road Dance Company from the regions he visited.
Before the formal concert, enjoy wonderful Afghani music performed by TABLA FOR TWO, a talented duo who will take you on a magical musical journey.
Edwardian attire is encouraged, not required, but here is a chance to don your Downton Abbey best. Or wrap yourself in Silk Road splendor instead. You can also attend in business attire and dress up for a photo in items from our Silk Road corner.
Doors open at 6:30 PM Formal concert begins at 7:00 PM.
